‘Outsider’ shot and killed in Layou

A MAN WHO WAS DESCRIBED as an “outsider” by several villagers before he was shot and killed in Layou last weekend, has been identified as 23-year-old Darrel Cummings of Chateaubelair/Questelles.

According to reports Cummings was the patron at an event in Layou last Saturday, September, 13, 2025 when he was shot and killed.

A resident of Layou said Cummings was close to a shop on the main road close to the Texier Road gap where an event was taking place when gunshots rang out. After the shots were fired, Cummings reportedly ran a few feet before he fell.

After his death, a video began circulating on social media with Cummings smoking what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette. He is reported to have also posted a social media status with violent words involving death before posting the video of himself smoking.
