12 left homeless in mid-day fire at Richland Park
A fire that destroyed a multi-family complex in Richland Park over the weekend has left at least 12 people homeless, including a 23-year-old mother of a six-year-old girl.

The mother, Aaliyah Garrick, told SEARCHLIGHT that on the day of the fire (Monday, September 1), she was in Kingstown when someone phoned her around 1:30 p.m. and told her that her home was on fire.
Garrick said she caught a van and when the public transport reached the Sion Hill area, she saw the fire truck speeding towards what she assumed was her burning home in Richland Park.
“…up to now me can’t feel good. I am somewhere else living where I’m not comfortable because I lost everything in the fire and I am not working at the moment,” Garrick told SEARCHLIGHT on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
