RGU Medical School students call for justice

STUDENTS of the Richmond Gabriel University(RGU) of Medical School are petitioning for justice after the school suddenly fled St Vincent and the Grenadines for Curacao. The university, which is being accused on social media of alleged “fraud, deception, and cover-ups,” has led to St Vincent and the Grenadines attracting flack, with persons online commenting that students should think twice about attending such universities in the region.

There were 45 students at the medical institution- 15 of whom were Vincentian, and 26 employees when RGU’s campuses in St Vincent ceased operations in 2024.

More than one year later, several former students of the school are petitioning online about their deep concern and collective hardship stemming from “the institution’s failure to uphold its academic and legal obligations,” and are calling for justice.

The petition, which has garnered up to 319 signatures in 15 days states that in light of recent public revelations and “documents exposing alleged fraud, deception, and cover- ups…,” many students have been denied access to their official academic transcripts and degree certifications; left without support or communication despite fulfilling their academic and financial responsibilities; are unable to apply for further education, medical residencies, employment, or licensure; and have also been financially harmed by tuition fees paid to an institution that may not meet national or international standards.

A supporter of the cause, who has taken the “crisis” to reddit, has said that the administration is refusing to release students’ transcripts or offer any refunds.
