Hundreds turn out for free eye care services

HUNDREDS OF Vincentians this week lined up for free eye care services offered to the public over the course of five days.

This initiative has been a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, the Sandals Foundation and iCARE Great Shape Inc. The free services began on Monday, August, 4, and will end today, August 8, 2025.

These clinics have been providing comprehensive eye health services to citizens of all ages, and no registration is required.

The services offered from Monday to Thursday, were held at the St Joseph’s Convent, Kingstown, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m daily.

However, today’s session will be at the Sandals Ballroom in Buccament.

Services include comprehensive eye testing for vision, diseases, and injuries, as well as the provision of eye medications and referrals as needed.

Also being provided are free prescription glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses, as well as laser procedures for diabetic retinopathy, and health screenings for diabetes and hypertension.

Founder and Director of iCARE Great Shape Inc. Stephen Sam, in an SVGTV interview, encouraged Vincentians who have diabetic retinopathy to take advantage of the services being offered.
