Vincy Heat in ‘must win’ game against Puerto Rico next week

St Vincent and the Grenadines’ senior Men’s Football team, Vincy Heat, have much to play for when they take on Puerto Rico at the Estadio Centroamericano de Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

It will be another must win for the Vincentians in their Group F campaign of the Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers.

Vincy Heat got off the mark last Wednesday night, June, 4, 2025, on home turf at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, defeating Anguilla handsomely, 6-0.

On the night of the lopsided scoreline, Captain Oalex Anderson, led the tally with goals in the 20th and 69th minutes.

His brace was supported by a penalty converted by Cornelius Stewart in the 25th minute.

Joining Anderson in the second half four- goal- blitz were a Marcus Joseph header in the 59th minute, and another header, this time from Kyle Edwards in the 61st .

Kirtney Franklyn sealed the emphatic victory with an 85th minute strike that put Vincy Heat with a positive goal differential, after three matches.

Looking ahead to next Tuesday’s match in Puerto Rico, Vincy Heat’s head coach, Ezra Hendrickson confirmed that his charges will be giving it their best shot.

“It is not going to be easy, but we are on a mission, and we want to make sure we to do our part in trying to get to the next round. If what happens in the other games do not go in our favour, so be it; but we want to make sure that we are not leaving anything on the table,” Hendrickson remarked at a post-match press conference.

Vincy Heat has been placed in the current situation after losing their two matches in June last year.

Then, Vincy Heat lost to Suriname 1-4, and 1-3 to El Salvador. Both matches were played in Suriname.
