Members of Parliament yesterday, Thursday March 6, 2024, paid tribute to the late Allan Cruickshank who died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) on March 1, 2025. Parliament also observed one minute of silence in Cruickshank’s memory at the end of the obituaries segment of the business of the House.

In paying tribute on Thursday, Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves said that the Cabinet Secretary, is in communication with Cruickshank’s family making arrangements for his official funeral.

“When someone dies… all contestation ceases,” Gonsalves told parliamentary colleagues in the House on Thursday.

Gonsalves said he thinks that Allan Cruickshank “left the world better than he met it.”

Cruickshank served as Member of Parliament from 1984-2001 under the New Democratic Party (NDP) administration of the late Sir James Mitchell. Opposition Leader and NDP President, Dr Godwin Friday also paying brief tribute expressed “profound loss” over the death of Cruickshank, who at one time served as General Secretary of the party.

Friday said “he contributed tremendously to the post-independence development of St Vincent and the Grenadines.”

In reflection, Friday said Cruickshank was “a valued member for advice, for support, for encouragement.”.
