CEO of GECCU leaves office suddenly

This country’s largest credit union is without a chief executive officer (CEO) after Rohan J Stowe, who took up the post in October 2020, left office suddenly on Monday, June 26.

A memo circulated among GECCU staff on Monday afternoon stated that Stowe was no longer the CEO.

It is not clear if Stowe, an economist, resigned or was fired.

He had been appointed to the position effective October 1, 2020.

One staff member told SEARCHLIGHT that Stowe left for lunch on Monday and never returned.

When contacted on Thursday, Michael Sayers, President of GECCU told SEARCHLIGHT he would rather not comment at this time.

GECCU is the largest credit union in St Vincent and the Grenadines, with a membership of over 50,000.

In 2019, GECCU had an asset base of $270 million, a staff of about 52 and operated from six branches.

Prior to joining GECCU Ltd, Stowe worked at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) for over 15 years.
