PM confirms reports of theft at Argyle airport project

There will be zero tolerance for persons caught stealing in relation to the Argyle international airport project.

This was made clear by Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves yesterday, in response to a question posed during a media conference.{{more}}

Gonsalves confirmed that there was a report of persons allegedly stealing materials from the International Argyle Development Company (IADC) in past weeks.

“I’m aware that, I think last week, either last week or late in the other week, Dr [Rudolph] Matthias had informed me that it was discovered that one or two persons had been involved in pilfering allegedly of some materials,” Gonsalves said.

“We’re having zero tolerance on this matter in every area, so if we find anything which is amiss, we deal promptly. I told Dr Matthias, I say ‘if you have the persuasive evidence, even though the evidence may not be conclusive, take the matter to the police and you’ll get those workers off the site’.”

Gonsalves noted that he is expected to receive a report once the matter has been dealt with.(BK)
