For creating history at Vincy Mas 2014, the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) rewarded Delroy âFiremanâ Hooper with a brand new car, at the annual prize giving ceremony, at the Murray Heights Hotel, on Thursday, October 2.
The conference room at the hotel, for a few minutes, took on the atmosphere of a mini concert,{{more}} when it was announced that Hooper, who this year, copped the Soca Monarch, Road March and Ragga Soca titles, had won the brand new Nissan Tulsa.
Each time he walked down the aisle to collect his various awards, the DJ played Hooperâs smash hit, âUnruly,â which saw persons getting out of their seats and dancing along with Fireman, who once again stole the spotlight.
As he walked back to his seat, Hooper bowed to the audience and said, âThank you! Thank you, everyone.â
Hooper and his entourage then made their way to the parking lot to inspect the vehicle. The Soca Monarch then celebrated with the people who he said were with him from the start.
Speaking at the ceremony, chair of the CDC Dennis Ambrose said, âThis is indeed a remarkable achievement by a single individual having attained so many accolades. In addition to his cash prize and trophies, the CDC will reward him with a brand new Nissan vehicle.â
Ambrose said it is his hope that the car serves as an incentive for the up and coming artistes to realize that they, too, can make giant strides.(KW)
