The 16-year-old received subject awards for Biology, Chemistry, English A, English B, Geography, Spanish and Information Technology. She was also the recipient of two form awards for her commendable performance in fourth form in 2013. Additionally, Lewis received three special awards: Outstanding Punctuality and Attendance, Most Disciplined Student and Valedictorian.

In her valedictory speech, Lewis encouraged her peers to remember one another and their alma mater as they venture out in search of success.

“Let us set goals and work towards them with perseverance. Surely it will not always be easy, but be reminded that Rome was not built in a day. Let us do as the theme says by facing the future with courage and thus preparing for greatness. Trust in God at all times and he will surely direct our paths,” she said.

When she spoke with SEARCHLIGHT, the daughter of Ephraim and Vasilca Lewis revealed that she was overjoyed to have won so many awards.

As she reflected on her time in Thomas Saunders Secondary School, she stated that while there were some fun times, it was mostly “serious times, because I had to study hard and work hard.

“I was doing science subjects and as people know, science subjects require a lot of studying,” she explained.

In the future, Lewis hopes to pursue a career in medicine. As a result, she hopes to take Biology, Chemistry and Physics when she attends the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, Division of Arts, Science and General Studies in the upcoming school term.(BK)
