The lifeless body of the 52-year-old mechanic of Belair was discovered at Brighton, just outside the premises of the popular night spot “Huffles”, yesterday morning.

According to police, the death is being treated as a homicide, until the cause of death is ascertained.

Inspector Franklin Williams of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) said that the body was discovered by an officer who was passing in the area and noticed the body lying on the side of the road, motionless.

Williams said the officer then reported his discovery to the Calliaqua Police Station.

Curious onlookers were on hand at the scene. One man told SEARCHLIGHT that he knew the deceased and that he was not a known troublemaker.

The man said that he was baffled by the incident, saying that he thought the man may have collapsed, rather than having died at the hands of another.

Investigations are ongoing. (DD)
