Francis believes Thusians wanted to take over NDP
General Secretary of the Unity Labour Party (ULP) Senator Julian Francis said that he believes former senator Anesia Baptiste had plans to take over the New Democratic Party (NDP).{{more}}
Francis made the revelation on Tuesday, April 24, on his Star FM radio program, when he said that he was of the view that Baptiste had ulterior motives when she left the ULP in April 2009 and joined up with the NDP that same year.
âThere is no question in my mind that Anesia is deliberate in her forward movement. There is no doubt in my mind that it was the intention, and still is the intention of her to infiltrate organizations with herself and her Thusian members.
âThere is no doubt in my mind that the young lady has plans, and has decided on a course of action.â
The Minister of Transport and Works said that after being booted from his party, this course of action included becoming a member of the NDP, then bringing other members of her church, the Thusian Institute for Religious Liberty, into the party.
He said that her appointment as NDP senator over other more experienced politicians, along with her position of Assistant Secretary General of the party, and approved candidacy of the West St George constituency, were parts of her plan.
âHaving done that, Anesia decided to start making her move to install other Thusians inside of the New Democratic Party, and hence the entrance of Shefflorn Ballantyne, and I understand there is a third one in another constituency, which I wouldnât name.
âBut it seems as if (NDP leader Arnhim) Eustace and the New Democratic Party suddenly woke up, because it seems that the Thusians were taking over the NDP and Mr Eustace saw members of the traditional churches and other religious organizations were being silent and not saying much; so he had to make a decision.â
According to Francis, the NDP was being taunted by the Thusians, particularly Ballantyne, who used his social network Facebook page on numerous occasions to anger the Leader of the Opposition.
âOn the 12th of April, Shefflorn declared that he was going to hold a meeting to discuss the candidacy in North Windward for the New Democratic Party. So when I read the thing, and watched the build up to this thing, I could see that Mr Eustace had a lot of anger in him and he was taunted by the Thusians.â
Francis said that the New Democratic Party was warned by the Unity Labour Party about the ex-senatorâs intentions; but Eustace suggested that Baptiste was âtoo brightâ for the ULP, and that Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves and the ULP could not âdeal with herâ.
The former candidate for East Kingstown also blasted Baptiste for what he called misleading the public, by claiming surprise when she found out her post as senator had been revoked.
âI think it was dishonest of Anesia when asked about it on Friday, to say she doesnât know why Mr Eustace took that action, and she will wait like everybody else; not indicating to the public that she had written this letter. The contents of this letter alone is a dismissal letter; all that was missing from it is a resignationâ¦.
âSo, here is somebody who came back with a plan to infiltrate a political organization to get to the top; she declared very early she wants to be the first female prime minister.
âAnesia had a plan and it failed with two political parties. Where is she going next?â Francis asked.
