Georgetown woman is winner of SOL Suzuki

Eluanda Andrews always had a gut feeling that she would win the $98,000 Suzuki Sx4 in the SOL group promotion. And as faith would have it, she did.{{more}}

On Friday, April 8, Andrews, a Taxi operator of Georgetown, was presented with the keys to her brand new vehicle, after her name was pulled from 175,000 other entries at the Arnos Vale Service Station.

After she was informed via telephone about her winning, which was broadcast live, Andrews kept saying, “Are you serious?”

The promotion, which ran for three months, saw patrons purchase $40 in Shell V-Power or Shell Diesel and complete an entry form that was dropped in at any of the eight participating Shell Service stations.

When Andrews arrived with family members, she could hardly remove the broad grin which was etched upon her face.

An elated Andrews explained that she was speaking about the promotion and predicting that she would win, just moments before she received the telephone call. “I was telling them (family) that the car is mine. …So I was in shock when you called. I can’t believe this,” Andrews said with a smile.

Andrews, who said that she’s never won anything in her life before, stated that she submitted between 100-200 entries since the promotion began.

“I am a Taxi operator, so I fill my tank almost everyday and I can remember that same entry, because it was a hurry thing I did,” she explained.

Asked what are her plans for the vehicle, Andrews emphatically replied, “I am keeping it! It is the first time I have ever won anything, because I always feel I have to work hard for everything. I am definitely keeping it.”

Persons, who gathered at the draw, were expressing the hope that a man would take away the vehicle this time around. However, it was not to be. The the last winners of vehicles in the SOL vehicle promotions were both females.

The promotion also saw 96 persons winning $40 free fuel.

Robert Banfield, from the Banfield Service Station, was presented with a cheque valued at $3,803.66 for winning the prize for the best service offered to customers.
