A boom in construction is expected to take place on Canouan again with the construction of a US$100 million tourism project.{{more}}

This investment to the south of the island will commence by July this year.

Prime Minister Dr.Ralph Gonsalves, commenting on the project, said the construction of high-end facilities will further transform Canouan as an elite destination of choice.

“There will be a huge demand for construction and other workers on the site,” said Gonsalves, adding the investors will make the full announcements at the appropriate time.

Gonsalves is adamant that this massive investment would not have been considered had his government not built the Canouan Jet Port.

During the 1990s and the earlier part of this century, hundreds of jobs were created for Vincentians on Canouan with the construction of the Raffles Resort. (HN)
