The young woman, who originates from Calliaqua, was found last Saturday morning in an unconscious state, badly beaten.

When contacted, Theresa Smart, a relative, told SEARCHLIGHT somebody had used a block to bash Haynes’ head. She was also reportedly injured with a knife which was found on the scene.

Smart said the reason for the attack is not clear.

She described the mother of two as an outgoing person who likes to enjoy herself.

“She is somebody who likes to go out and enjoy life,” said Smart. Haynes was popular here for participating in karaoke competitions.

Smart refuted claims that Haynes was dead.

She described Haynes’ chances of survival as 50/50 but expressed optimism that the family was hoping for the best. (HN)
