Should the ‘Yes’ vote succeed, Monday, November 30, 2009, will be declared a public holiday.{{more}}

This was disclosed by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves at a press conference held last Monday.

Gonsalves said he will be asking the religious community to hold a day of prayer, thanksgiving, and continued healing for the nation before the public holiday. This is slated to take place on Sunday, November 29, 2009, regardless of the outcome of the referendum.

The prime minister said he was not prejudging the results of the referendum, but once the ‘Yes’ vote gets 67 per cent of the vote, a holiday will be held.

He added this will give the Yes Committee sufficient time to prepare.
