The 72-year-man, who lives in the Calliaqua area bordering Glen, was struck by a vehicle driven by George Boyce (photo below), of Lodge Village, just after 8 a.m.

Passersby travelling to and from Kingstown flocked to the site of the accident to get a glimpse of Seales’ body as it lay across the road. His body was washed in blood and parts of his shirt were torn.

When SEARCHLIGHT arrived at the scene, Boyce was assisting the police with their investigations. At times he was seen grimacing as he looked at the deceased.

Gaston Seales, one of James Seales’ sons, disclosed that his father, a former sailor, at the time of his death was employed at a business at Villa Flat and might have been going to a shop in the area when he was hit by the Toyota car. James was married to Doreen Seales.

Sorely grieved, Gaston, said he was at home sleeping when his brother awoke him to the fateful news.

“All they told me is that he got knocked down. I didn’t think he had died,” said the grief stricken son.

Describing the relationship that he shared with his father, Gaston sighed: “We were pretty close.”

When SEARCHLIGHT contacted Seales’ daughter Francine Ballantyne, the grieving woman said she was not in a position to give an interview about her father.

The police are continuing their investigations into Seales’ misfortune.
