‘Dan’ found dead on Biabou beach

The community of Biabou was abuzz with speculation on Friday, August 16, as news that a dead man had been found on the beach spread throughout the community.{{more}}

Dead was Aron ‘Dan’ Williams.

Residents of the area told Searchlight that the former New Prospect resident was found by a passer-by at about 7 a.m.

It is alleged that he drowned.

Robertha Williams, Aron’s mother, told Searchlight the 39-year-old left home at approximately 2 p.m. the day before after he brought three breadfruits for her to roast. She said he left and said he was going to “Bayside” to bathe.

He never returned that night. The mother of 12 said “Me wait till de hour when he does come back,” but this was to no avail.

Williams said she was unable to sleep on Thursday night because “Just as me mind bin a tell me, something wrong.” She received the news of her son’s death on Friday morning when someone called to inform her that he had been found dead.

Aron was described as a jovial and “hands on” person who was always willing to help. Williams said that he was never a troublemaker but would behave with some “stupidness when he drink ‘e rum”.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Aron’s death. At press time, the results of an autopsy carried out on Wednesday had not yet been released.
