GLENN JACKSON DEAD

Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Glenn I. Jackson is dead. The body of the veteran journalist, activist and radio personality was found in his vehicle on the Cane Garden main road at about 1:45 p.m. today (Monday).

Acting Prime Minister Sir Louis Straker in a statement broadcast on NBC Radio this afternoon said that he was “real distraught” and that Jackson’s death had “brought ripples of fear and sadness throughout the country.” He added that the country’s prayers were with his (Jackson’s) family and all those who are bereaved at the passing of someone so widely known in this community and so well loved.”

Sir Louis said that the Government has sought the help of Scotland Yard, and a forensic pathologist from St. Lucia to assist with the investigations into Jackson’s death.

According to Sir Louis, Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, who is in Singapore, has already been informed.
