Slater: Men not paying heed to HIV message

The message about the dangers of unprotected sex does not seem to be getting through to many of this country’s citizens. And many persons, especially men are not concerned whether their partners have HIV/AIDS or not. This situation was revealed during the launch of a World Bank Project here last Tuesday. {{more}}

Health and Environment Minister Dr. Douglas Slater gave figures for 2004 which showed that 25 pregnant mothers had tested positive for HIV/AIDS. But more alarming was the fact that nine of those mothers were repeated pregnancies.

The Health Minister, while upbeat about solutions, and the capacity to deal with the matter, expressed concern about those partners still willing to risk

their lives.
