Man found guilty of possession of 32.8 kg of cocaine

Convicted drug man Anthony ‘Ipa’ Edwards will have to wait until next month to know his sentence.

On Wednesday at the High Court in Kingstown, Edwards was found guilty of possession of 32,795 g of cocaine (32.8 kg) and trafficking in the illicit substance.

The Fitz-Hughes resident, who was on $500,000 bail prior to his trial, broke down in tears after the 12-member jury returned the guilty verdict.

The 42-year-old farmer was nabbed by police at Wallilabou, at about 6:20 p.m., on January 12, 2015.

The court has requested a social report. Edwards was represented by lawyer Grant Connell.
