Diamonds man granted $20,000 bail on wounding, gun related charges

A Diamonds man is now out on EC$20,000 bail, after he allegedly shot a fellow villager in the leg last Saturday.

Atiba Franklyn is charged that on May 27, 2017, he unlawfully discharged a firearm at Idamin Johnson of Diamonds. He is also charged with wounding Johnson with intent.

When Franklyn appeared before magistrate Bertie Pompey at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, he was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 and the matter transferred to the Serious Offences Court the following day.

Franklyn is to report to the Colonarie Police Station every Monday and Friday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. He was also ordered to surrender all travel documents and to have no contact with Johnson.

The Diamonds man returns to court on September 5, 2017, when a Preliminary Inquiry into the matter would commence.
