Hillocks freed of firearm charges
Monty Hillocks, a 36-year-old chauffeur of Belmont, yesterday walked freem from the Serious Offences Court when firearm charges against him were discontinued.
Hillocks was arrested on Wednesday, December 6, 2016, at around 9:50 a.m. at Arnos Vale and charged with being in possession of a 9mm semi-automatic Glock pistol without a licence and 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition without a licence.
He last appeared before the Serious Offences Court on December 8 and was granted bail in the sum of EC$20,000 by Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias.
However, yesterday, Browne-Matthias told Hillocks, who is represented by Arthur Williams, that she received a letter from the Director of Public Prosecutions Colin Williams, dated March 27, stating that Hillocksâ case would be discontinued.
He was then told he was free to go.
On October 7, 2016, Hillocks was shot at in Glen during the same incident in which 10-month-old baby Mozari Lee was killed.
He escaped unhurt when a gunman fired at him and missed, instead hitting Mozari and his parents Mozart Lee and Shelly-Ann Durham.
Two men Richard âShrekâ McFee and Martin âJahsonâ James were later charged with Mozariâs murder and the wounding of his parents.
