Buccament woman granted $9,000 bail on 68 counts of theft

A Buccament woman who faces 68 charges of theft is out on bail, after the new year met her in police custody.

Latish Williams, 24, has been charged with stealing $7,750 in Digicel credit from Harmony Investment, Kingstown, between January 18 and August 30, 2016.

When she appeared before magistrate Bertie Pompey at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court last Friday, Williams pleaded not guilty to all 68 charges.

However, her station bail was revoked, after prosecutor Elgin Richards informed the court that he was not confident that the surety for that bail had qualified.

Richards asked for proper surety and reporting conditions.

No one turned up to bail Williams on Friday, but on Tuesday, her EC$9,000 bail bond was signed.

Williams is to report to the Layou Police Station every Tuesday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. until she reappears before the court on February 7, 2017. (AS)
