Mother pleads guilty to stabbing son

A Lowmans Leeward woman will begin the New Year behind bars after the court ordered that she be remanded in custody for stabbing her son on Tuesday.

When she appeared before magistrate Bertie Pompey at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, Lavern Prince pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding her son, Kish Prince of Lowmans Bay, on December 27, 2016.

However, prosecutor Elgin Richards recommended that Prince be remanded in police custody for one week, as her son is still nursing a stab wound at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Reports are that Prince stabbed her son in the chest after the two began arguing on Tuesday morning.

The Lowmans woman, who hid her face from the media, as she exited the court, will once again appear in court on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. (AS)
