When 18-year-old Omega Cupid appeared before magistrate Bertie Pompey at the Kingstown Magistrateâs Court last Tuesday, she was charged that on December 17, 2016 at Glen, she wounded Desmond Chance, 23, of Glen, with intent.
Police say that Chance was stabbed twice at the back of his neck, three times in his back and three times in his shoulder.
Cupid was not allowed to plead, as the charge is indictable.
Additionally, the Crown opted to deny her bail, as Chance is still at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital nursing a stab wound to his neck, which is nine cm wide and nine cm deep.
The Crown also asked that Cupidâs bail hearing be postponed for one week to await a report on Chanceâs prognosis from the doctor.
She will reappear before the Magistrateâs Court next Wednesday, December 28, for her bail hearing.
The matter was also adjourned to January 4, 2017 at the Serious Offences Court, where there is expected to be a Preliminary Inquiry into the matter.(AS)
