Stapleton charged in connection with murder
A 25-year-old man of New Montrose has been charged in connection with the murder of Union Island resident Matthan Slater.{{more}}
Kirt Stapleton appeared at the Serious Offences Court yesterday and was remanded in custody for the charge.
In addition, Stapleton was charged for using an a firearm to aid in the offence of murder. He was further charged for having a firearm with the intent to endanger life and for having a firearm without a license.
On Sunday, June 29, 2014, at about 1:50 a.m., in the vicinity of âYankeeâsâ shop on Higginson Street, someone approached Slater, 39, and shot him in the abdomen.
Slater succumbed to his injuries three days later at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
The matter was adjourned to October 8 for hearing.(KW)
