Magistrate to deliver verdict on case of missing CID exhibit gold

Magistrate Rechanne-Matthias Browne will on July 29, deliver her decision on a no case submission in a case where 29 grammes of gold has gone missing from the exhibit room at the Criminal Investigations Department.{{more}}

At the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, the prosecution, led by Crown Counsel Karim Nelson, called seven witnesses in the matter, in which suspended police officer Corporal Erickson Browne stands accused of knowing or believing 29 grammes of gold to be stolen goods, dishonestly assisted in the disposal of same, at Kingstown, between January 1, 2013 and January 31, 2013.

Browne, 45, of Biabou, is charged along with retired police officer, and then exhibit keeper Raymond Stephenson, 42, of Vermont.

He is charged with the theft of 29 grammes of gold, valued at $1,500, the property of Teresa Simmons of Rockies, stolen at Kingstown, between January 1, 2013 and January 31, 2013.

Attorney Duane Daniel represents both men in the matter.(KW)
