Man caught on camera stealing from supermarket

Curtis Joseph may have been confused when he stole two sticks of Old Spice deodorant from Super J supermarket.

Joseph, who was sentenced to six months in jail by the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court yesterday,{{more}} told police that he stole the items because he was hungry.

On June 21, Joseph went to the supermarket and while there, he was kept under observation by security guard Emmanuel Thomas, who suspected that Joseph had stolen from the store before. Thomas then informed the person who operates the CCTV to keep a close eye on the defendant.

Joseph was caught on camera placing the items into the cuffs of his pants. He was apprehended as he attempted to make his way out of the supermarket.

When cautioned by police officers, Joseph replied: “Ah get catch now because ah bin hungry.”

Joseph is said to have been released from prison just last month, where he had been serving time for a similar offence.(KW)
