Zoneh Seymour appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to stealing the money from Hamlett George on May 22.

Magistrate Rechanne-Browne Matthias granted her bail in the sum of $500 in her own recognisance.

According to the facts read out in court, at about 7 p.m. on May 22, George returned home from work and took off his pants, which contained his wallet.

On May 25, at about 10 a.m., George took up his pants and discovered $1,700 was missing from his wallet.

He questioned Seymour about the missing money, but she denied knowledge of it. The matter was reported to the police and investigations led to Seymour.

While in custody, Seymour admitted to stealing the money and buying three pairs of shoes, a hair product, a black dress, and a Blackberry smartphone.

The court learned that George and his wife took Seymour to live with them following the death of her father over a year ago.

In court, George said he did not wish to have her living at his place anymore and stated that he only wanted his money back.

“I gave her time to repay, but it seems like she beating around the bush,” George told the court.

The magistrate then asked Seymour where she was living and she said that she was staying with her brother’s mother in Enhams.(KW)
