Sean Chewittâs dishonest ways have finally caught up with him.{{more}}
On February 21, magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias sentenced Chewitt, of Rockies, to six months imprisonment for dishonestly obtaining 50 pounds of codfish and 10 cases of Turbo juice drink from Saron Yorke of Harmony Investments Ltd.
According to the facts, Martin Laborde, manager of Harmony Investments, indicated it is a wholesale business that is located at Redemption Sharpes and conducts business with business houses in and around Kingstown and the Grenadines.
On February 4, at about 9:45 a.m., the companyâs Saron Yorke received a telephone call from a Bynoeâs Mini Mart in Bequia, requesting the codfish and Turbo juice.
Yorke complied with the request and sometime after, management attempted to make contact with the mini mart, only to discover that the mini mart was fictitious.
When Harmony Investments made a telephone call to the number from which the purchases were made, they were told that a cheque would be sent.
That was never done.
While in prison, Chewitt telephoned Harmony Investments and told them that he had been arrested and would make payment as soon as the matter is cleared.
At that time, Chewitt was on remand for other deception charges.
Chewitt was also ordered to pay compensation of over $2,000 for the items.
However, Chewittâs legal woes are far from over, as he has another matter pending.
On January 6, at the Kingstown Magistrateâs Court, he had pleaded not guilty to 12 charges of deception.
He was charged with dishonestly obtaining items from Jennifer Cheverton of Campden Park, amounting to over $30,657.07.
Chewitt is alleged to have committed the acts between October 14, 2013 and December 18, 2013.
