SEARCHLIGHT has confirmed that Harris was released from prison last Friday.
According to Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Colin Williams, Harris changed his plea to guilty to manslaughter on both counts at the High Court last Thursday.
âHe changed his plea and was sentenced to 10 years,â the DPP said.
Williams further explained that the guidelines in sentencing usually take into consideration the time spent on remand, calculated from the date of arrest.
He further explained that when someone is sentenced they are given one third off – amounting to eight months in a prison year.
With this calculation, the DPP stated that Harris may have ended up not having to serve much more time on his sentence.
Harris was arrested and charged in 2007 for the December 15, 2005 murders of Llewellyn and Gill.
The charred remains of Lllewellyn, a resident of New Montrose, and Gill, were found in Gillâs burnt out house along the Villa-Fountain road.(DD)
