Prosecution withdraws charges against Immigration officer

The 24 charges brought against Immigration officer Curlyn John were withdrawn Tuesday at the Serious Offences Court, by the prosecution,{{more}} following instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Inspector at the Serious Offences Court Adolphus Delpesche told the court of this course of action when the accused appeared before Chief Magistrate Sonya Young.

John, a 36-year-old resident of Layou, first appeared at the Serious Offences Court on January 25, where she was charged with 24 counts of falsifying a number of St Vincent and the Grenadines ED (immigration) cards in various names, and records required for accounting purposes. She was also charged with several counts of theft of monies, the property of the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
