Vincentian musician arrested and charged in Barbados with trafficking in marijuana

Dennis Lawrence Parsons, 35-year-old musician of Fountain appeared at the District A Court in Barbados on Wednesday after he was arrested and charged by Members of the Drug Squad in that country on Tuesday.{{more}}

According to press release issued by the Royal Barbados Police, Parsons was charged with a number of offences including possession of 49 pounds of cannabis; trafficking of cannabis; possession with intent to supply and importation of the drug.

The release stated that on Tuesday, March 19, members of the Customs and Excise Department carried out a search of a shipment of coconuts which entered Barbados as part of cargo on an inter-island vessel from St Vincent.

Packages of cannabis were found with consignment and as a result the Barbadian Drug Squad was called in to continue investigations.

The release stated that Parsons and a female were taken into custody, however the female was subsequently released and Parsons charged.(DD)
