Man sentenced to 12 years for rape
The man who asked his victim to have a relationship with him after he had raped her, was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment on Friday, March 15.{{more}}
Owyn âBlackmanâ Jackson was found guilty of rape by a jury of his peers, at the High Courtâs Criminal Assizes.
Justice Wesley James handed down the sentence.
During the trial last week, the woman testified that on January 21, 2012, she had just returned from a function in Richland Park when she went to urinate near a gap.
The woman said Jackson came up behind her, placed his hands over her eyes and mouth.
She was then taken to a bushy area where she was raped.
The matter was reported the following day and Jackson was arrested and charged subsequently.(KW)
