Commendations came from prosecutor at the Serious Offences Court Inspector Adolphus Delpesche and Chief Magistrate Sonya Young.

“Where are the other officers from C.I.D (Criminal Investigations Department) to hear how he is giving evidence. They should be at least peeping at the door or sitting to hear this…,” Delpesche said.

Chief Magistrate Sonya Young agreed with Delpesche and noted that he “gives good testimony” when he comes to the box.

The officer of eight and half years, who is attached to the Major Crimes Unit (MCU), was the investigating officer in the matter where Murray’s Village resident Austin McDowall and Jeremy Laborde of Redemption Sharpes faced charges of aggravated burglary, wounding with intent and unlawful use of a firearm.

At the end of the prosecution’s case, the case against Laborde was withdrawn and Chief Magistrate Young committed McDowall to the high court for trial before a judge and jury.

McDowall is alleged to have broken into the house of McKies Hill resident Cauldric Dewer, on December 15, 2010 and shot him in his left leg, resulting in the leg having to be amputated.(KW)
