Sam, who is originally from Lower Questelles, but claims that he now lives at Rillan Hill, pleaded guilty to having one rock of cocaine on February 15, at Richmond Hill.

Police nabbed Sam with the drug as he was travelling in a motor vehicle in the Richmond Hill area. The drug, was found under the mat of the passenger seat where he was sitting and Sam admitted that the drug belong to him.

Sam, appearing dazed at times as he stood in the dock before Chief Magistrate Sonya Young, explained that he was experiencing relationship woes, which drove him to get the cocaine.

“Me been get in a lil thing with me girl and me been under some stress na. Me rent de crack pipe from a crackhead fo $2,” Sam explained.

The accused, who has a history of burglary offences, told the court that he did not want to go to jail because it is not good for him.

“I not feeling good in prison. I dor war go prison. You could have a lil leniency on me. I have a $250 in me shanty down Rillan. You could allow me to go get it?” Sam asked.

He was also adamant that he was not a regular cocaine user and when magistrate Young asked to see the crack pipe, she noticed that it appeared in a rundown state.

“Me ain’t go go down dem road dey again. Is a lil misunderstanding me and me girlfriend had,” he said.

“If I let the police carry you to Rillan and you don’t have the money in the shanty, I’ll double up on what I am going to do with you,” Young warned.

“So why you ain’t want me to go myself and bring it back? I telling you, I woulda go and come back. So, you ain’t going look into me situation and have mercy pon me? I ain’t go disrespect the court. It’s just help ah need,” Sam said and added that he was being “spited”.

The Chief Magistrate sentenced Sam to two months in jail yesterday and a confiscation order was made on a lighter and the crack pipe.
