SEARCHLIGHT had reported on January 25 that Browne-Matthias was tipped to replace Browne at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court.

In her first sitting, some members of the Bar table congratulated Browne on her appointment.

Browne-Matthias wasted no time in carrying on with the court’s proceedings.

She dealt with matters listed as far back as 2010. She dismissed cases and ruled final adjournment on others.

Before taking up her new post, Browne-Matthias served as the temporary family court president, while president of the Family Court Colleen McDonald was on leave. (KW)
