Gould, 28, a supervisor of Lowmans Windward/Fair Hall appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Friday, January 25 and pleaded guilty to the charge of theft.

Chief Magistrate Sonya Young ordered Gould to pay EC$6,000 forthwith with the remainder in two months or one year imprisonment.

She was also bonded to keep the peace for two years in the sum of EC$5,000. In breach, she will spend one year in jail.

According to the facts of the case, Gould was at the time employed as a cashier at the Hotel and was responsible for receiving money from guests.

Between May 12 and July 12, 2012, the hotel’s supervisor discovered discrepancies between the sales records and the cash on hand.

Gould admitted she had taken the money after she was spoken to by Director of the Hotel Flora Gunn.

Gould then signed an agreement to repay the money, but she failed to honour her commitment.

The matter was then reported to the police and she was arrested and charged. Corporal Kasankie Quow led the investigation.(KW)
