Public servant Stacia Aberdeen, 25, of Green Hill, is accused of misappropriation of government funds, alleged to be in excess of $100,000.

Her matter was scheduled to get underway on January 16, at the Serious Offences Court, but had to be adjourned once more, because, prosecutor Inspector Adolphus Delpesche said, the prosecution was not ready to proceed with the matter.

Delpesche said although the matter was given a final adjournment the last time it came before the court, the Director of Public Prosecutions was in possession of the files.

He explained that he was instructed by the DPP to ask the court for a further adjournment in the matter.

“He (the DPP) too is cognisant that it is a matter that should have already been dealt with,” Delpesche said.

Aberdeen’s lawyer, Arthur Williams, did not object to the prosecution’s request for an adjournment and said he understands that there are over 100 charges to be dealt with.

“As I was told, the department is trying to put evidence together and said they would need a bit more time. I am a practical man… When you have serious matters, I think they need to be investigated properly,” Williams said.

The Chief Magistrate ordered that there be full disclosure to the defence by May 17 and the committal hearing would be held on June 13.

Aberdeen is currently on $40,000 bail.

Aberdeen was first charged on August 29, 2011.
