On commencement of the matter on Friday, January 4, the prosecution, led by Inspector Adolphus Delpesche, called four witnesses to the stand to testify in the matter in which Cardon Sergeant is charged.

The Fairbaine Pasture man, 56, is alleged to have taken up a rock and struck the deceased, 52, also of the same address, on the head, on May 19, 2012.

Initially, Sergeant was charged with wounding; that charge was later upgraded to attempted murder.

However, Hoyte succumbed to his injuries in July, at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital and the murder charge was brought against Sergeant.(KW)
