Jury finds brothers not guilty for ‘Crampy’s’ murder

A 12-member jury on Monday found Layou brothers Peter and Andrew Hazelwood not guilty for the murder of Kommer “Crampy” Cyrus, also of Layou.{{more}}

Cyrus, 25, died on the spot on August 29, 2009, after being stabbed about his body around 5:30 p.m. at Ras I’s Food Shop in the Leeward Bus Terminal, following an altercation.

The defence, led by attorney Nicole Sylvester, argued that her clients were acting in self-defence at the time of Cyrus’ killing.

Crown counsel Carl Williams led the prosecution’s case.
