Thomas, a resident of Redemption Sharpes, pleaded guilty to four counts of deception on April 16 at the Kingstown Magistrateâs Court.
He was charged with obtaining by deception, several electronic items valued at close to $20,000, the property of Missed Call Tech in Kingstown between February and April 2012.
Thomas re-appeared in court on Monday, April 30 for sentencing, but prosecutor Inspector Glenford Gregg requested a further two-week adjournment, since more charges are more than likely to be put forward soon against Thomas.
He noted that after SEARCHLIGHTâs article, a number of persons alleged that a similar scheme was used to con them.
Thomasâ scheme involved stealing persons’ credit card numbers and storing them in his mobile phone.
Thomas went to Missed Call Tech and made a number of credit card purchases using different names on different occasions. Some of the items purchased included cameras, cellular phones, and a laptop computer.(KW)
