That’s because Rodney, when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Sonya Young at the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday, pleaded guilty to having a firearm in his possession and discharging the said firearm within 100 yards of the public road.

The court was informed that police responded to a call in the Rockies area that there was a fight between Rodney and other men, which involved the use of a firearm.

Rodney was taken up by the police and taken back to his home so that a search could be conducted. That search revealed a home made firearm, hidden under a stove. When cautioned, Rodney told police that he and other men had a dispute during which one of them brandished a cutlass in his face. Rodney said he went for the gun and threw it outside and a shot fired off.

Young also slapped Rodney with a one year sentence for discharging the firearm. Both sentences will run concurrently.(KW)
