Duo placed on three-year suspended sentence after attempted robbery

Irvin Billingy and Roderick Clouden have to steer clear of the law for the next three years to avoid going to prison.

The men, both of Mt Grenan, were sentenced to a three-year suspended prison sentence on Thursday, December 17, at the High Court by Justice Gertel Thom.{{more}}

In default, they will spend three years behind bars if they commit and are found guilty of any offence within the three-year period.

The duo pleaded guilty at the September Criminal Assizes to attempted robbery charges.

On December 15, 2008, Sales representative, Jeannette Dublin of the National Lotteries Authority was held up at gun point in broad daylight after she had just collected money from a Lottery agent.

After collecting the money and upon entering their vehicle, two masked men, one of whom had a gun, accosted Dublin and Guardsman security officer Fitzroy Hamlett.

Dublin managed to fight off her attacker and Hamlett was able to fire shots at one of the masked men. One of the bullets caught him in his mouth and exited, shattering the windscreen.(KW)
