Perhaps Lamont Lescott didn’t get the memo that lightening does not strike twice in the same place.{{more}}

Lescott, 26, of Old Montrose stole one sheet set from Jax Enterprises and got away free, he was not so lucky the second time around.

So, for his pilfering ways, Chief Magistrate Sonya Young slapped him with a six-month custodial sentence at the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of theft.

The court heard that Lescott went into the store on December 10 and stole a sheet set. It was not until the store’s surveillance cameras were reviewed that they realized what he had done.

The boldface man then went back to the store on December 15 and stole another sheet and walked past the cashiers. The authorities were then called in on the matter and Lescott was subsequent arrested and charged.

He claimed that someone had stolen the first sheet set from him and that was the reason why he went back to get the second set.

He was sentenced to six months imprisonment on each charge. The sentences will run concurrently.(KW)
