King’s efforts to evade Police failed

Eighteen year-old labourer, Rashaan King of Redemption Sharpes was fined $250 on Monday at the Serious Offences Court for having 98 grams of cannabis on January 26. The lad was given until February 14 to pay the fine or spend 21 days in jail. He appeared before Chief Magistrate Simone Churaman and pled guilty to the charge.

Drug Squad personnel met King at about 4.25 p.m. sitting on a wall along the roadside in Redemption Sharpes. When King saw the police vehicle he emptied the contents of a plastic bag which he had behind the same wall.

The officers retrieved the bag. He was taken into custody where he made no statements.
