King gets nine months for stealing

Never in Lenroy King’s wildest dreams did he think that he would be spending the first nine months of 2007 locked behind bars.

The 17 year-old Sharpes resident appeared at the Kingstown Magistrates Court on Monday and was sentenced to nine months imprisonment for stealing a gold chain and pendant belonging to Julian Richards also of the same address.{{more}}

On December 12, 2006 King met Richards in the Middle Street and demanded money from him. Richards was however reluctant to cough up the money and in return King snatched his chain from around his neck and fled the scene.

King said that Richard’s brother met him later and slapped him twice and took away his brother’s belongings.
