Man arrested for having sex with school girl

The educational development of a thirteen-year-old pupil from the Leeward side of the island has been hampered by pregnancy.
The pupil, who passed the recent Common Entrance examinations to attend a secondary school, is five months pregnant. According to information, her pregnancy was confirmed after the sitting of the Common Entrance when she was taken to a medical doctor for examination.{{more}}
Information also says that the police were called in and following investigations, a friend of the girl’s family was arrested and charged with unlawful sexual intercourse. The accused is in custody. Another man, the girl’s in-law, is also wanted for questioning by police. It is alleged that both men, said to be in their thirties, engaged in sexual intercourse with the girl between December 2002 and January 2004.
The matter is expected to be dealt with at the Family Court.
Meanwhile, a Form One secondary school student on the Windward side of mainland St. Vincent is also said to be pregnant. However, there is no report of anyone having been arrested and charged with unlawful sexual intercourse.
