The Windsor Primary School’s 2018 Hats off to Reading programme culminates today, Friday, March 2, with a family day at Rawacou.

Literacy coordinator at the school Kathleen Williams said on Wednesday that the events held this year were 100 per cent successful.

She praised the participation of the fathers, who took part in the programme and read stories to the kids.

“One father gave a story about his and his son’s visit to Bequia and it went down quite well and out of that, he promised the Grade Ones a trip to Bequia,” said Williams.

This year’s programme also saw the students holding a pretend sleepover pyjama party on Thursday, in which they dressed up in pyjamas and read books.

“We are hoping that parents support us with the family day at Rawacou,” said Williams.

The school’s principal, Carol Smith, said that this year, the programme was held under the theme, “Read, read, read, that is what we need, read, read, read, that is what we do.”

She said on Tuesday, the children read books and the programme on Monday, in which fathers read to children, was a huge success.
